Sta. Maria is one of the seven fishing villages of Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte, in Mindanao. Sta. Maria’s condition was similar to other poor towns in the country. It had no adequate water system for its mostly Muslim residents from the Tausog and Kolibugan tribes. The situation drastically changed for the better after TVI Resource Development Philippines, Inc. (TVIRD) built a water system for the village.
