Makati City, Philippines / March 2026 – Across its project sites, the TVIRD Group of Companies observed Women’s Month 2026 with meaningful purpose and inclusivity – highlighting the invaluable contributions of women within and beyond the workplace. The celebration was inspired by national directives on gender equality that are anchored on the Magna Carta of Women (Republic Act No. 9710), a law that aims to eliminate discrimination and uphold the rights of women.

TVI Resource Development Philippines Inc. directly operates the Balabag Gold and Silver Project, the final rehabilitation of the Agata Nickel Laterite Project, and the Siana Gold Project under Greenstone Resource Corporation.

By actively supporting gender equality, TVIRD endeavors to translate advocacy into action with programs that promote women’s development, equal opportunities and an inclusive work environment.

Care and capability at Balabag

For Balabag in Zamboanga del Sur Province, Women’s Month was observed with thoughtful activities designed to support women’s health and livelihood skills.  The company promoted a home-based enterprise through chicken pastil cooking lessons, which can serve as an additional source of income for the participants. It likewise provided free health services that highlighted the importance of informed and preventive care as well as an IEC session on fire prevention and management for their own personal safety.

TVIRD’s female employees were also pampered with massages, nail spa treatments, and other activities that recognize the value of rest and relaxation in sustaining personal growth. They also received tokens of appreciation for their contributions to the organization.

Strength and solidarity in Agata

Meantime, female employees of Agata in Agusan del Norte donned their running shoes and gathered for a Women’s Month fun run to test their endurance and mutual support.  Two participants took the gold for completing a demanding 18-kilometer run while eight runners received silver medals for successfully finishing the 8-kilometer leg.

The event highlighted their collective energy and offered the participants a brief respite from their daily routines. It also brought them closer in achieving the same feat together as well as inspire those around them.

Leaders and changemakers in Siana

Employees and women from the company’s beneficiary communities gathered early at the Siana Gold Project in Surigao del Norte to take part in a full-day celebration titled:

“HIRAYA: Husay, Ilaw, Respeto, Alaga, Yaman, Abante!

The activity brought participants together in a powerful tribute to women’s leadership and resilience through guided discussions, a Zumba session, a fun run and a host of other competitions.

The celebration drew inspiration from babaylans of pre-colonial Philippines — women leaders who were revered as healers and spiritual guides.  The reference underscored the meaningful relevance of history in shaping the roles of today’s Filipina women.

“This Women’s Month, we are reminded not just of who we can become, but of who we have always been. Let us lead like the babaylans — anchored in wisdom, driven by purpose, and committed to nurturing both people and progress,” said Greenstone Human Resources Manager Ann Asupan during the event.

A collective tribute to women

Rather than a single tribute, Women’s Month unfolded as a series of shared moments at the TVIRD Group’s project sites. Collectively, the activities were a reaffirmation of the company’s commitment to gender equality, empowerment, and inclusivity which it expressed through skills training, health and wellness programs, cultural recognition, and a series of meaningful discussions.

As the yearly observance came to a close, the participants agreed that when women are empowered, communities are strengthened.  And when strong, capable women are given leadership roles, organizations thrive and the future becomes more inclusive and hopeful.
