The TVIRD Group of Companies unites across its project sites for Earth Hour 2026

Greenstone employees gathered at the company’s Irish covered court to solemnly celebrate and dedicate an hour for the conservation of the planet’s natural resources.

Makati City, Philippines/ March 2026 – In solidarity with the global call for environmental action, projects under the TVIRD Group of Companies joined millions worldwide in observing Earth Hour 2026 last March 28 from 08:30 to 09:30 PM.  Participating projects directly operated by TVI Resource Development Philippines Inc. include the Balabag Gold and Silver Project, the Siana Gold Project under TVIRD’s wholly-owned Greenstone Resource Corporation, and the Agata Nickel Laterite Project, which is currently on its final rehabilitation phase

The global event is organized yearly by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and encourages individuals, communities, and organizations to switch off non-essential lights for one hour as a symbolic gesture of commitment to conserve natural resources. More than ever – especially at a time of uncertainty and massive supply disruptions – the movement underscores the urgent need for stronger energy conservation efforts and more responsible consumption.

This year’s observance emphasized the message that meaningful environmental action goes beyond a single hour of darkness – calling on everyone to take daily steps towards a more sustainable future.

“Earth Hour is a powerful reminder that caring for the environment begins with intention and is sustained through action,” according to TVIRD Director for Environment and Tenement Management Jesalyn Guingguing.

Balabag’s creative engagement

At the Balabag Project in Zamboanga del Sur, Earth Hour was marked with a series of cultural activities under the theme “Create the Biggest Hour for Earth.” Employees took part in a paper shadow contest, Kundiman performances, and traditional Filipino games that reinforced environmental values. Discussions on energy conservation also highlighted practical ways to reduce energy consumption both in daily operations and at home.

Through these efforts, the company demonstrated how cultural expression and practical applications can strengthen advocacy through action.

Agata promotes lifestyle choices

At their final rehabilitation site in Agusan del Norte, Agata personnel joined the worldwide observance under the theme, “Give an Hour for Earth.” Non-essential lights were switched off across its facilities, while personnel were encouraged to reflect on how small, consistent actions can create lasting environmental impact.

The observance reinforced awareness on energy conservation and responsible resource use as well as urged employees to integrate sustainable practices into their personal lives.  Employees likewise reaffirmed their role in inspiring collective responsibility for the environment through conscious lifestyle choices.

Unity and commitment at Siana

Amid flickering candles and dimmed lights, Greenstone personnel commemorated Earth Hour at Siana in Surigao del Norte through a shared expression of environmental responsibility. The event highlighted the growing urgency of addressing environmental challenges, particularly in the Philippines, where communities continue to experience the effects of climate change such as rising temperatures and extreme weather conditions.

The evening kicked off with a serenade from the GRC Chorale followed by messages on the importance of collective action.  At exactly 08:30 PM, lights across the venue were switched off as recycled lamps were illuminated to form the iconic “60+” symbol alongside TVIRD–GRC. Department heads likewise shared testimonials towards environmental protection while employees wrote pledges of shared accountability.

A Shared Commitment to a Sustainable Future

“For the entire TVIRD Mining Group, this hour of unity symbolizes our deeper commitment to protect, restore, and nurture the environment – not only for today, but for future generations. Even the smallest actions can light the way for lasting change,” Guingguing said.

Across all three TVIRD project sites, Earth Hour 2026 served not only as a symbolic act but also as a reminder that unified efforts – no matter how simple – can create a synergistic effect and gain momentum.

Together, their participation underscore shared aspirations: building a more sustainable future through mindful and practical application, sensible lifestyle choices and a commitment to continuous action – all of which go far beyond one hour each year.
