Illegal Miners Use Fake Emails to Damage Firm’s Reputation, Harrass its Officers, Disrupt its Operations in a Concerted Campaign to Take Over Mining Area

Earlier this year a series of emails were circulated implicating TVIRD executives and other individuals in a murder conspiracy against certain illegal miners in Balabag, Zamboanga del Sur.

It was a clear dirty-tricks operation using fake emails to criminally misrepresent TVIRD and misled no less than President Benigno S. Aquino III and other top government officials including Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Ramon Paje and other Cabinet Secretaries, heads of government agencies including the National Security Commission, private institutions, military and police officers, the media, our stakeholders and communities where we operate.

TVIRD strongly denies involvement in this and any criminal acts. We are a legitimate affiliate of a multi-million dollar publicly-listed business. Our business practices here and in various parts of the world are beyond reproach.

In an effort to clear its name the TVIRD has sought the assistance of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in analyzing and determining the veracity and authenticity of these emails.

TVIRD likewise sought the services of Pacific Strategies and Assessments (PSA), an international private risk assessment and security agency, to separately run a check on these emails.

The experts in document examination analysis and cyber and computer forensic analysis of both agencies have come up with the same conclusion: the emails are FAKE, FICTITIOUS, and a HOAX.

The damage resulting in the circulation of these spurious emails is devastating not only to TVIRD and to the country’s Chief Executive and his top officials, they subsequently spread throughout the halls of Congress, making their way into the hands of various committees including those overseeing ecology and even human rights, all of which were unwittingly led to act negatively.

In all these the reputations and credibility of TVIRD, its executives and all those implicated were besmirched, and top officials and institutions of the country made to look like fools.

Even the media was not spared from the sham, for among the alleged targets of the sham conspiracy is a Pagadian-based journalist who claims he is fearing for his life as a result of the emails. He is fearing for his life over nothing, and his and his news agency’s credibility has been put on the line.

Together with the top law enforcement and investigative agencies of the country like the NBI, TVIRD will pursue the perpetrators of this crime. We have started to trace and identify the authors and those circulating the fake emails, and their prosecution is a certainty.
