Tubod, Surigao del Norte/ September 2024 – TVIRD’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Greenstone Resources Corporation – operator of the Siana Gold Project – has successfully achieved its first-semester Social Development and Management Program (SDMP), underscoring the company’s firm and organized commitment to its beneficiary communities.  These achievements have been validated by the Mines Safety, Environment and Social Development Division of the DENR’s Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region XIII.

The successful validation of Greenstone’s first-semester SDMP milestone highlights the company’s dedication to fostering sustainable and impactful social programs in its host and neighboring communities. As the operator of the Siana Gold Project, it likewise continues to enhance the quality of life for residents through targeted development programs.

Implications of MGB’s Validation

The recent validation reflects a comprehensive review of community engagement and social responsibility.  By focusing on practical projects such as enhancing emergency response capabilities, improving educational infrastructure and promoting sustainability through recycling, Greenstone demonstrates a holistic approach to social development that goes beyond regulatory compliance.

By design, Greenstone’s SDMP addresses immediate community needs while aligning with broader sustainability goals, such as education, safety and environmental stewardship.  The active involvement of local stakeholders – from budget planning to implementation – ensures that these projects are community-driven and reflect the genuine needs of the residents themselves. 

Key Milestones Highlighted  

Greenstone recently turned-over a rescue vehicle to Barangay Siana – which will enhance the community’s emergency response capabilities.  This is aimed at improving the beneficiaries’ readiness to handle medical emergencies, natural disasters and other urgent situations.

The MGB validation team also inspected the newly renovated classrooms at Siana Elementary School – which are part of Greenstone’s efforts to provide students with a safer and more conducive learning environment. Renovations include improved infrastructures, better ventilation and upgraded safety features; thus, ensuring a comfortable and secure place for learning.

In addition, and in collaboration with the Villar Sipag Foundation, Greenstone distributed plastic chairs to Siana Elementary School – which were sustainably produced from recycled plastic materials in Cagayan de Oro.
