Supports 65th Anniversary Medical Mission of Radio Mindanao Network
Butuan City / September 2017 – Agata Mining Ventures Inc. (AMVI), a joint venture of TVI Resources Development Inc. (TVIRD) and MRL Nickel Philippines, supported the recent medical and dental mission for indigent residents of Agusan del Norte led by media partner RMN-DXBC Butuan. The mission conducted in the Provincial Capitol Compound in Butuan City added significance to Radio Mindanao Network’s 65th Anniversary and service to the country. DXBC is the network’s flagship station for the Caraga region.
The commemorative event was supported by AMVI for the third consecutive and was able to serve more than 1,000 patients in Butuan while the national leg reached some 40,000 beneficiaries. AMVI provided much-needed medicines for hypertension, gastric pain, mucolytics, decongestants, antihistamine, antispasmodic drugs, analgesics, anti-diarrhea, multi vitamins, diabetes control and pediatrics medicines.
The AMVI Emergency Response Team (ERT) headed by company nurse Izette D. Lim and composed of its Safety, Security, Engineering and Operations staff was also onboard to assist in checking the vital signs, including blood pressure of patients who walked-in from various communities in the region.
Overall, the mission provided 500 free medical consultations, over 100 tooth extractions and more than 100 free eye check-up and eyeglasses. Free medicines and vitamins were likewise provided for patients in need.
A dedicated feeding program and nutrition seminar were also conducted for more than 300 children and their parents while additional token services like free haircuts and physical therapy were provided.
A sustained commitment

As a continued supporter of humanitarian missions of the country’s two largest and credible media networks – RMN and Bombo Radyo – AMVI’s dedication to charitable activities dovetails with the company’s roll-out of its health and sanitation programs in communities where it operates.
These also include AMVI’s holistic social development program that includes education, livelihood and infrastructure projects that are tailor-fit to enhance the community’s available resources as well as harness their skills.
Parallel to its unwavering annual assistance to the RMN mission, AMVI likewise supports Bombo Medico, which records more than 55,000 beneficiaries yearly and is the region’s largest humanitarian mission. A safe and healthy community
In the past year, the company also provided a total of 6,850 free medical consultations to patients in its beneficiary communities and an additional 6,000 more for its employees, contractors and dependents. These free medical services were administered by the company’s medical staff at the AMVI Clinic in Tubay Municipality where it operates its nickel laterite direct shipping ore (DSO) project.
Medicines are likewise distributed to barangay health centers to address common illnesses such as flu, bacterial infection, and cough.
AMVI’s effort to reach indigent communities goes beyond the Agata Nickel Project, which also spans the adjacent municipalities of Jabonga and Santiago of this province. Disaster response and immediate assistance trainings for its ERT were put to the test during the 6.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Surigao City – particularly in providing medical assistance and water supply to the victims.
AMVI-ERT is currently this year’s Provincial Fire Olympics Champion and is tied at First Place with the Philippine National Police Emergency Responders during the Rescue Olympics in Butuan City.
The team also mobilized the delivery of relief goods to 1,495 riverside and coastal households during the recent flooding that severely affected indigenous Mamanwa communities near Lake Mainit. Agata deployed its employee-volunteers in Barangays Lawigan, Tinigbasan, and Tagpangahoy where help was needed most.
Coastal barangays are likewise provided with emergency kits and equipment to be used in times of disaster while most residents are taught to respond in times of crises as part of the AMVI Incident Command System.
