AMVI once again supports Tubay’s annual Christmas party for community daycare centers

Tubay, Agusan del Norte / January 2017 – Agata Mining Ventures Inc. (AMVI), joint venture company of TVI Resource Development Philippines Inc. (TVIRD) and MRL Nickel Philippines, once again joins Tubay LGU of this province in its traditional “Pamaskong Pahalipay para sa mga Kabataaan” (Children’s Christmas Treat) held at the municipal gymnasium.  In line with cultivating the overall sustainability of the town, the ongoing strong partnership between the company and the LGU further instills the spirit of generosity for children in daycare schools.

The event gathered over 800 attendees, including both teachers and pupils from 13 barangays, and distributed toys and school items in time for the Yuletide season.  470 children aging 2-4 year old from poor families were also treated to free Jollibee meals and a presentation from Jolly mascots, which is always a hit among preschoolers.

The yearly event evolved into Tubay’s tradition continued by Hon. Fidel E. Garcia, Jr. – the town’s incumbent mayor – and is likewise spearheaded by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Ma. Evelita E. Regis.

This year’s beneficiaries are 13 daycare school pupils from all the barangays who attended the event, which was also supported by the Philippine National Police and Cabadbaran Municipality’s Fraternal Order of Eagles – a socio-civic organization.

Continued support

Prior to its involvement in Pamaskong Pahalipay, AMVI has since acknowledged the welfare of children in its host communities and recognizes Tubay Municipality’s annual event that brings Christmas festivities to the disabled and marginalized.  Last year’s affair was held at the Doňa Rosario Gymnasium and provided treats and toys to some 410 children aged two to four years old from barangays of the municipality.

Mayor Garcia commended AMVI for being a long time partner and donor to its yearly event and that the LGU is “proud to have the company as a strong supporter of an admirable cause and (looks) forward to the continuance of this partnership geared towards the benefit of the less fortunate Tubay-non children.”

Social Development

AMVI operates in the coastal municipality of Tubay and adjacent Jabonga and Santiago in Agusan del Norte Province.   Led by TVIRD, the joint venture continues to move forward with nickel direct shipping ore (DSO) operations that directly exports to markets in Asia.

Both companies also have established track records for responsive social and environmental programs that contribute to the overall sustainability of its host communities.  AMVI draws confidence from this and continues to engage the community in meaningful activities that promote responsible mining practices.

Prior to this, the company also actively engaged its host and neighboring communities in feeding programs and medical missions – all of which are part of the company’s firm commitment to social development.
