In newspaper ads, Siocon Mayor takes a stand based on first-hand experiences with TVIRD
The Municipality of Siocon, the host municipality of the mining operation of TVI Resource Development (TVIRD), has issued a Manifesto of Support for the continued operation of the minerals development firm in Sitio Canatuan, Barangay Tabayo.
In issuing the Manifesto, which was published in two leading newspapers in Zamboanga Peninsula, Siocon Mayor Ceasar Soriano sets the record straight and bats for continuing mining operations because of the many benefits mining provides to the host and impact communities.
He thanks TVIRD for its infrastructure projects, employment and livelihood opportunities, educational grants and subsidies, and the construction of school buildings – saying these are some of the benefits of continuing mining operations in the area.
In the same Manifesto, the Mayor also praises TVIRD’s commitment to environmental protection, responsible mining and transparency with the entire host community.
